About the All-Stars

The ABA and the Alamo City All-Stars

The Alamo City All-Stars are a men's professional basketball team playing in the ABA (American Basketball Association). The ABA has been around for over 50 years, and the San Antonio Spurs got their start in this league before it merged with the NBA.

The All-Stars are owned and operated by VSJ Ballers, LLC, and bring a wealth of talent and experience to the organization. The Alamo City All-Stars were formerly known as the Tri-City All-Stars. The name was changed to reflect the entire San Antonio region we represent. The All-Stars were founded in 2017 and played 8 seasons, providing a fun, family-friendly and affordable sporting experience.

Our goal each game is to involve as many people from the community as possible. Our platform lets other organizations and individuals showcase their talent before and during the game, and we're committed to partnering with local businesses throughout the region.

The ABA was established in 1967 and merged with the NBA in 1976 (New Jersey Nets, San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers and Denver Nuggets). In 2000, Joe Newman and Richard P. Tinkham reformed the league in partnership with the NBA. Today the ABA operates in the United States, Mexico and Australia, along with the WABA women's league.

Notable ABA players who went on to NBA stardom include Julius Erving (Dr. J), George Gervin (The Iceman), Rick Barry, Moses Malone — and our very own Head Coach, San Antonio Spurs legend Johnny "00" Moore!
